It’s a good thing I’m honest, ’cause I could be a world-class liar

I’ve written tall tales about alien abductions, a house move gone wrong, and an anti-gravity machine. A love story between a woman named Wyatt, from Quiet, and Noisy Ned from HootNHoller, two sides of the same mountain. A tale about a little girl who hates the alphabet, until she meets King Lettermaker and Alphabet Stew in the land of Read & Write. There’s a whale of a fish tale, a kid who outwits Shade–the shadow monster, and a dog named Heathrow who dreams of flying. In another tale, Heathrow borrows a delivery van to learn how to drive. There’s an alternate tale about Snow White. I’ve created four different tales about a dog named Hatrack, who has antlers and a cellphone (he’s half reindeer and half greyhound). In one story, he rescues passengers from train-rustling cattle. In another, he and his littermates save Christmas by pulling a second sled for Santa. In yet another, Hatrack discovers stowaway zoo animals aboard a passenger jet. In the fourth tale, he subs for Mother Nature while she goes on vacation (Spoiler Alert: things don’t go well at all).

And then there’s the adventures of Orvis and Wendell. Wendell is a little boy with a huge imagination. Orvis, who’s not only an elephant but invisible as well, is a product of that imagination (but don’t tell Wendell).

Maintaining all those tales in my brain was like using my hands to collect hop toads after a heavy rain. I needed to write those stories down, so I joined the Dallas Christian Writers Guild and learned to write professionally. I’ve been an active member for over a decade.
